Mirroring a similar program at Disney s California Adventure theme park, Universal Studios Hollywood has started allowing patrons to partake of dining and shopping at the home of The Simpsons, Harry Potter and the Despicable Me Minions.
The park, which remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began offering a Taste of Universal, on Friday, giving visitors weekend access to select areas of the theme park to shop and eat. Capacity will be limited, guest temperatures will be checked and mask-wearing and social-distancing rules will be enforced. Universal Studios Hollywood to reopen with outdoor dining, shopping experience

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Theme park enthusiasts will officially be able to get a taste of Universal Studios Hollywood when it takes its first step toward reopening with an outdoor dining and shopping experience beginning March 12. Taste of Universal will be held within certain sections of the park on weekends from noon to 7 p.m. with coronavirus safety guidelines in place including limited capacity, physical distancing, and required face coverings.

Nicoletta s Italian Restaurant at 1700 Eighth Ave., Altoona, was one of 40 restaurants ordered to close for defying the Wolf administration s ban of indoor dining. Gov. Tom Wolf is prohibiting dine-in services at bars and restaurants until Jan. 4 in an effort to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The state Department of Agriculture has been shutting down restaurants that have defied the Wolf administration’s ban on indoor dining, including Nicoletta’s Italian Restaurant in Altoona and four other restaurants in the region.
Also shut down are Route 220 Diner in Bedford, Mike’s Place in Clearville, the Hot Dog House in Bellefonte and Fun Central in Clearfield, according to AgrIculture Department spokeswoman Shannon Powers.
