SHARON – After a tumultuous year, Sharon’s School Committee will go forward with three new members to work with.
Newcomers Prisnel Dominique and Wenxiao Guo Tiano won three-year terms to the Committee with 27.5% or 1,648 votes and 30% or 1,822 votes respectively along with Veronica Wiseman who received 16% or 944 votes. Incumbent Katie Currul-Dykeman did not win in her re-election bid, receiving 784 votes while challenger Inna Belenky received 786 votes, both receiving approximately 13% of voters ballots.
Tanya Lewis and Aviron Shemtov won the two one-year seats to fill vacancies, one of which was the result of former school committee chair Judy Crosby resigning in March when she was forced out as chair. Lewis received 37% or 1,509 votes cast while Shemtov received 27% or 1,086 votes. Incumbent Heather Zelevinsky was unsuccessful in her bid for the one-year seat receiving 15% or 599 votes while a fourth candidate, Chethana Naik, received 22% or 877
Have to Live on Welfare? Thu Apr 29, 2021 I thought I knew all the horrible Bernie Sanders stories. But this one is new to me. In 1971, Vermont was debating a tenant s rights bill. One of the testimonials to Vermont s State Senate Judiciary Committee came from one Susan Mott of Burlington, who said the legislation did not go far enough in prohibiting discrimination against single mothers and recipients of welfare benefits. Mott had one child and was on welfare. That one child, introduced earlier in this essay, was Levi Sanders, Bernie Sanders son. Which begs the question, why did Bernie Sanders (former?) girlfriend and his son have to be on welfare? Where was the University of Chicago graduate s considerable marketable skills? What was 5-year-old Levi s father doing that he couldn t afford to support his own child?

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Ozgun Demirag, associate professor in the project and supply chain management department at the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend, and Susan Sanders, lead adviser in the College of Health and Human Development; have been selected to receive the 2021 Penn State Excellence in Advising Award.
The award, established by the former Undergraduate Student Government’s Academic Assembly and sponsored by each college, annually honors one full-time professional adviser and one full-time faculty member from any Penn State location who have at least two years of advising experience. Selection criteria are based on excellence in general advising, academic and career guidance, enthusiasm and assistance in decision making, and goal setting.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – As part of this week’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, the National Weather service is staging it’s annual tornado drill.
Wednesday morning between 9 and 9:30 a.m., the NWS will be issuing a tornado warning for the area.
They want us all to remember that it’s a drill but to also start thinking about the weeks ahead when we might be in a scenario that’s not a drill.
“It gives people a minute to pause thinking, ‘What would I do right now if this was a real tornado warning’,” said Susan Sanders, Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the NWS Rapid City Office. “They’re not at home generally so they would have to think about where their shelter would be at that particular moment.”
