MILFORD The Board of Education approved a series of nine commitments and five goals for city schools for the next five years and, with one exception,was unanimous in its enthusiasm for the list.
Superintendent of Schools Anna Cutaia presented a draft of the commitments to the board. The commitments included ideas such as, “continually growing a learning community rooted in strong, trusting, and dependable relationships,” and “creating and maintaining a safe and secure climate that promotes a supportive academic, social, emotional and physical learning environment.” ....

On July 14, 1994 the Toronto Zoo’s Dominion Ride – better known as the monorail – suffered a catastrophic accident that injured 27 people closed it permanently.
The Dominion Ride
The electrically powered, air-conditioned, rubber-tired attraction dubbed “The Dominion Ride” carried visitors to various Dominions within the Metro Toronto Zoo since its inception in 1974.
There was minor controversary at the time as the monorail cost $14 million dollars while the entire zoo cost just $26 million.
Metro’s Park Commissioner at the time, Tommy Thompson, said, “It’s like a man with a $20,000 house parking a $14,000 Cadillac in front.” ....

MILFORD Returning to in-person learning full-time has increased costs, but the school system remains within budget for its COVID expenses, according to James Richetelli, the chief operations officer.
The schools have received $8.17 million from federal Coronavirus Relief Funds and Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief grants, Richetelli said at the April 26 school board meeting. Projected COVID-related expenses for the school year increased slightly in the past month, to $3.7 million, he said. ....
