(WSFA) - Tuesday night, the Montgomery City Council voted on a measure to honor a councilman who died earlier this year. The council members passed a resolution to dedicate the King Hill Community Center in honor of Tracy Larkin. The center will be renamed as the Hilton L. “Tracy” Larkin Community Center. It sits in District 3, where Larkin served as councilman for years before he died in January. ....

The Montgomery City Council on Tuesday unanimously backed Johnson’s proposal to rename King Hill Community Center to Hilton L. “Tracy” Larkin Community Center. People attending the council meeting cheered after the vote. “Marche, I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this,” Council President Charles Jinright said. “Tracy would have been proud. Alabama News Marche Johnson is now the newest member of the Montgomery City Council. Johnson won the special election runoff for the District 3 seat Tuesday. She replaces Tracy Larkin who held the seat for 17 years before his death in January. Johnson, who is a Montgomery native says that she is more than happy to now be representing the very district that she grew up in.
