Photos: Beara Peninsula immigrants came to Butte for better life

Mar 12, 2021 More than a century after they came, they are remembered. As we near St. Patrick s Day, reporter Tracy Thornton of The Montana Standard asked readers to share photos of their forebears who emigrated to Butte from the Beara Peninsula. Our thanks go to the more than 60 families who sent photographs, proving that the Beara connection remains steadfast. Two Abbeys — Abbey Bina (Harrington) Healy and Abbey Holland O Sullivan are featured here. Bina s sisters, Nora and Mary were married to Abbey s brothers, Jerry and Mike Holland.
