RAWALPINDI: The sizzling heat and continuous water shortage have made the lives of residents miserable.
The residents of cantonment areas including Chur Chowk, Afshan Colony, Tench Bhatta, Meharabad, Habib Colony, Dhoke Hafiz and Misrial Road lodged complaints with the civic agencies about water shortage.
Saleem Ahmed, a resident of Afshan Colony, said they had been facing watershortage since the start of the summer season. He said Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) charged the residents for water every month but supplied the basic commodity for half an hour after two days.
Sajid Khan, a resident of Tench Bhatta, said that there was a dire need to arrange waterfor the residents as they had to go to other colonies to fetch water.

Rawalpindi : The tall claims of the local administration have dashed to the ground as consumers visiting Ramazan Sasta Bazaars even after 16th Ramazan could hardly find fresh vegetables, fruits, and other eatables. The prices of the eatables are also not much different from the ones sold in the open market.
The local administration has established ‘Sasta Bazaars’ near Iqbal Park Shamsabad, Committee Chowk, Haideri Chowk, Chungi No.22, Adiala Road, Chur Chowk, Chakri Road and Gulzar-e-Quaid.
It has been observed that only 15 to 20 per cent of consumers approach ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’ while 30 per cent of people approach government-run utility stores. The majority of consumers seem interested in buying subsidized sugar and ghee from utility stores and low price vegetables, fruits, and sugar from ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’. ISLAMABAD: With five deaths and 469 new Covid-19 cases reported on Monday, the capital administration issued directions to the administrations of mosques and imambargahs to ensure implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent further spread of the virus.
Officials told
Dawn that directives had been issued to mosques and imambargahs from the Auqaf Directorate. The directives say 20-point SOPs should be implemented, especially during Taraweeh.
Arrangements should be made in mosques and imambargahs in a way that there is sufficient distance between worshipers. In this regard, markings should be made at an appropriate distance.
Protest hinders supply to ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’

Rawalpindi : All ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’ were without basic items including pulses, sugar, ghee, basin, vegetables and fruits because Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) protesters did not allow loaded trucks to enter the city areas. The workers of TLP blocked traffic at T-Chowk near Rawat and Tarnol here on Tuesday.
