Tunnel boring machines (TBM) used to complete the tunnelling for Metro Line 3 in Mumbai were called on to undertake a hybrid method in order to deliver a platform tunnel in hard rock, as well as deliver some tunnelling firsts for India.

Unions propose e-autos on roads, seek nod to ply inside island city | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Autorickshaw unions have proposed that vehicles being phased out after 15 years should be replaced with electric autos which should then be allowed to ply in the island city between Colaba/Cuffe Parade and Sion/Mahim.
“We have proposed the government to encourage owners to switch to e-autos with an ‘incentive’ that they will be allowed to ply in island city. It will cater to the growing demand for public transport in central and south Mumbai as these areas have seen a huge decline in the number of Kaali Peelis from 55,000 cabs a few years back to 17,000 plying on road at present,” said Thampy Kurien from Mumbai Rickshawmen’s Union. Another auto union, Nav Bharatiya Shiv Vahtuk Sanghatana also demanded that autos be allowed to ply in island city ....

MUMBAI: Wards in the island city are reporting a surge in malaria and dengue cases and it seems to be reflected in a corresponding rise in admissions due to vector-borne diseases in south Mumbai hospitals.
In times of the pandemic, many people who feared they had contracted Covid after developing fever, cough and headache are finding out it was malaria or dengue.
BMC figures show there have been 357 malaria cases in June and 230 in the first 11 days of July. Overall, nearly 2,000 cases have been reported this year. Since June, the city has seen 20 confirmed dengue cases. Most of these cases are being reported from wards such as A (Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Churchgate), E (Mazgaon, Byculla) and G-South (Worli, Lower Parel). ....
