Madison County leaders remove trash along highway

Madison County Building and Zoning Director Chris Doucleff and two county employees pick up trash May 12. They went to two problem areas, Illinois 43, just east of the Illinois 255 overpass, and the intersection of Interstate 270 and Illinois 3. Madison County launched its Clean Communities program in March and within its first two months, more than 1,500 resource tool kits distributed to individuals and groups. The kits include trash bags, reflective vests, gloves and litter grabbers.
EDWARDSVILLE There is nothing attractive about trash on the side of the roads, that is why county leaders are cleaning it up themselves.

Jersey City will host its first annual Jersey City Mural Festival from June 5 and 6.
It will take place throughout the city, celebrating vibrant public art, fostering community, and benefiting small businesses affected by the pandemic.
“We started our Mural Arts Program seven years ago, and to be here today announcing the inaugural showcase for our esteemed public arts program is a testament to Jersey City as a known destination for international artists as well as the incredibly talented artists who live and work here,” said Mayor Steven Fulop. “This festival aims to uplift our local businesses, while also inspiring creativity through the shared experience of public art with our first large-scale event in over a year.�

A Successful Earth Day Cleanup ×
On Saturday, April 24, Bayonne held a successful Earth Day cleanup around the community. Organizations, businesses, schools, and neighbors were invited to participate. More than thirty teams of four to 10 people each removed litter from commercial areas, residential neighborhoods, parks, and other places in Bayonne. A group of City of Bayonne employees cleaned up part of our Broadway commercial district. Other people took part on an individual basis by cleaning up around their own property.
