AGIG starts blending hydrogen in gas in South Australia

AGIG starts supplying hydrogen blended gas to Adelaide
Australian Gas Networks (AGN), part of Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG), has officially opened its A$14.5mn ($11.2mn) Hydrogen Park South Australia (HyP SA) green hydrogen plant and started adding the fuel into the Adelaide natural gas network, AGIG said on May 19.
AGN will provide a blend of 95% natural gas, 5% hydrogen to more than 700 homes in parts of the Adelaide suburb of Mitchell Park. AGN received a A$4.9mn grant from the South Australian government’s Renewable Technology Fund to build and operate the plant.
HyP SA is an Australian first and one of only a few projects in the world to deliver a renewable gas blend to homes connected to an existing gas network, AGIG CEO Ben Wilson said.  The hydrogen produced at HyP SA shows how we can use the state’s abundant solar and wind resources to deliver carbon-free gas to homes and businesses.” ....

ARENA provides over $40 million in funding for hydrogen electrolysers in regional Australia

ARENA provides over $40 million in funding for hydrogen electrolysers in regional Australia
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has awarded the funding to the three electrolyser projects, which include:
Yara Pilbara Fertiliser: $42.5 million for a 10 MW addition existing ammonia facility in Karratha, WA.
ATCO Australia: $28.7 million for a 10 MW electrolyser to be included in the Clean Energy Innovation Park at Warradarge in WA.
Australian Gas Networks Limited: (AGIG): $32.1 million for a 10 MW electrolyser that will be used for gas blending at Wodonga, Victoria.
Karratha and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Tony Simpson believes this emerging industry has the potential to be bigger than LNG. ....

Australia's first three commercial green hydrogen projects to share $103m ARENA funds

5 May 2021
The nascent Australian green hydrogen industry has received a major boost, with three 10MW electrolyser projects to share in more than $103 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
ARENA has selected the three projects -from more than 30 applications – to produce and supply green hydrogen for a mix of uses, including fertiliser production and blending in mains gas supplies.
It will see a total of $161 million invested across the three projects in some of Australia’s first commercial-scale green hydrogen production facilities.
Engie Renewables will build a 10MW electrolyser in Karratha in Western Australia, as part of a consortium with Yara Pilbara Fertilisers, with the help of a $42.5 million grant. As we reported in April, the project will be paired with an on-site solar farm to produce green hydrogen, which will be used in ammonia production, with the facility expected to commence production in 2023. The project is ex ....
