Bells and bhajans will echo again in over a century-old temple of the Hindu community near the Lal Haveli in Bhabra Bazaar that had been occupied by encroachers for decades.
The Hindu community of Rawalpindi will be able to worship in the mandir near Lal Haveli after the eviction of encroachers and repairs, officials said.
The Rawalpindi district administration retrieved the century-old Hindu temple near Lal Haveli from encroachers on Monday.
The possession of the ancient worship site was handed over to the Auqaf department, which is responsible for the upkeep and management of religious sites. ....

This year, several gurdwaras and temples across Pakistan will undergo renovation as the country is home to hundreds of holy places belonging to minorities. Currently, the number of gurdwaras and temples in Pakistan stands at 1,830. Unfortunately, only 31 temples and gurdwaras out of the said tally are operational as of now, prompting the government into concrete action.

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has started improving the outer look of historical Raja Bazaar in coordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Raja Bazaar is the historic urban centre of Rawalpindi, comprising a multitude of bazaars. It has a strategic location with a mix of commercial and semi-residential areas and spatially forms a juncture of six major roads at Fawwara Chowk.
The diverse and culturally rich urban centre is, however, fraught with problems such as high density, unplanned land use, traffic congestion, visual clutter, navigational problems due to poor signage, weak housing infrastructure and lack of tourism despite its rich cultural history. ....
