India ready to share rural development strategy with Ghana Indian High Commissioner

The Indian High Commissioner Mr Sugandh Rajaram has expressed his country s readiness to support Ghana in developing its rural economies.
He said India had successfully advanced its rural areas by promoting agriculture, computer technology, and energy supply.
“We can share our expertise with Ghana in the spirit of cooperation towards improving living standards,” he said.
The High Commissioner was speaking during a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, the Paramount Chief of Asogli State, as part of his working visit to the Volta Region.
He said both nations shared a bond rooted in the days of the independence struggle from a common colonial master and through cultural connections. ....

Indian High Commissioner Urges SMEs To Be More Innovative To Attract Investors

Mr Sugandh Rajaram, India High Commissioner to Ghana, has urged Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to be more innovative to help boost their attraction to foreign investors.
Briefing the media on the last day of a five-day official tour of the Eastern Region, he indicated that the region had lots of business potentials and called for standardisation of the packaging to attract investors.
Mr Rajaram said Ghana was seen as the center of political andeconomic stability in West Africa and added that Indian businesses were ready and prepared to invest in local enterprises to improve the local economy of the country. ....

Illegal mining biggest threat to the cocoa industry-CRIG boss

Galamsey activities have marred the environment
Dr Francis Padi, Acting Executive Director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), says illegal mining, popularly called galamsey, is the biggest threat to the sustainability of the cocoa industry.
He said without illegal mining and its huge negative impact on the cocoa industry “Ghana can maintain its one million metric tonnes per year with the consistent recommendations from the research activities of the CRIG.”
The acting Director, who made this known in an interaction with Mr Sugandh Rajaram, the India High Commissioner to Ghana, indicated that cocoa diseases were another setback, but through research Ghana had progressively increased its cocoa production from 355,000 metric tonnes in the year 2000 to one-million tonnes currently. ....

Koforidua Regional hospital to get kidney dialysis centre

Dr Arko Akoto-Ampaw, Medical Director of the Eastern Regional Hospital, has underscored the need for a kidney dialysis centre to be established at the Regional hospital to scale up healthcare services.
According to the Medical Director, the dialysis centre would provide access to such critical healthcare service to many people in the Eastern Region and parts of the Volta region, who had no option but to travel to Accra and elsewhere for such services.
He said even though the construction of the 600-bed New Regional hospital in Koforidua, had factored it in the plan, “for the time being the need for such a centre has become relevant with the covid-19 pandemic which aggravates the situation of people with renal conditions”. ....
