Disha Ravi Breaks Down in Court; Says She Only Edited two Lines in Farmers Protest Toolkit

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Cyber Crime branch has arrested 22 years old environmental activist and student Disha Ravi. She was arrested in a case registered in relation to an online open document about Farmers protests.
Arrested from Bengaluru yesterday, Disha Ravi was today presented before a court in Delhi. As per media reports, Disha Ravi broke down in court saying that she had edited only two lines in an open and online document related to Farmers Protest.

“I did not make a Toolkit. We wanted to support the farmers. I edited two lines on February 3,” Disha Ravi told the Delhi court where she was produced earlier today. ....

India: 8 Journalists Covering Farmer Protests Charged; Drop Cases, Protect Media Freedom: Human Rights Watch

New Delhi: Eight journalists who covered the farmer protests in India and violence in Delhi on January 26, 2021 are facing baseless criminal charges, Human Rights Watch said in a statement on February 2. The Indian authorities should drop the charges, which include sedition, promoting communal disharmony, and making statements prejudicial to national integration.
“The Indian authorities’ response to protests has focused on discrediting peaceful protesters, harassing critics of the government, and prosecuting those reporting on the events,” said Meenakshi Ganguly, South Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “The government instead should conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the January 26 violence in Delhi.” ....

Exposed: India's Disinformation War Against Canada's Sikhs: New Report by WSO

Ottawa: The World Sikh Organization of Canada has released a report shedding light on Indian disinformation campaigns targeting Sikhs in Canada. The report entitled “Exposed: India’s Disinformation Campaign Against Canada’s Sikhs” was released on February 3, 2020. This report looks at the history of Indian interference and disinformation in Canada, including after the recent resignation of MP Navdeep Bains from his role as Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry.
Last week when MP Ramesh Sangha was expelled from the Liberal caucus for making “baseless and dangerous” accusations against a number of his colleagues, Mark Holland, chief government whip, said “we will not tolerate conspiracy theories, or danger and unfounded rhetoric about Parliamentarians or other Canadians”. ....
