ISLAMABAD: The federal government has requested the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for an early decision on its appeal against the restoration of pension of former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general Bashir Memon.
Mr Memon had again hit the headlines recently when the Supreme Court finally quashed a presid ential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa and scrapped inquiry proceedings against him by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), as the ex-DG had earlier alleged that he had been pressured by people close to the prime minister to initiate the inquiry against the Supreme Court judge. ....

Executive Order on the Revocation of Certain Presidential Actions and Technical Amendment

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including sections 3301 and 3302 of title 5, United States Code, it is hereby ordered as follows:

ISLAMABAD:
The apex court has ruled that a government servant reinstated to his post will be entitled to all the “back benefits” but an employee who had started some other “gainful” job or business during the period of his dismissal may face partial withholding of the benefits.
In case, the dismissal/removal of a civil servant is declared illegal for a defect in disciplinary proceedings without attending to the merits of the case, the entitlement to back benefits may be put off till the inquiry is conducted in the matter finally determining the fault of the civil servant. ....

Cleveland court: Alexander Lackey pleads not guilty to rape

CLEVELAND Bond was set at $100,000 after Alexander Lackey, 35, pleaded not guilty in court Friday to multiple charges, including five counts of rape. His first pre-trial has been set for April 19 at 9 a.m.
Conditions of his bond include court-supervised release, surrendering his passport, GPS monitoring and no contact with the victim.
3News’ Mark Naymik reported earlier this week that a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury secretly indicted Lackey last month on five counts of rape, three counts of sexual battery and one count of domestic violence.
Cleveland City Hall hired Lackey in December 2014 as a special assistant to the mayor, according to 2019 city payroll records. His annual salary is $64,500, the records show. ....
