LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Civil Air Patrol is holding informational sessions tonight and next Monday, August 2nd, for any youth interested in joining.
The program is designed to teach those interested in aviation of the culture which is inherited by the Air Force Auxiliary as well as steps they need to take in order to continue on with their careers.
In addition to various trips and activities associated with any youth organization, the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program opens possibilities for those seeking to fulfill a mission and save lives. Starting at the age of 16, cadets can become drone mission pilots to help find lost hikers or missing persons through the use of small, unmanned aerial systems. ....

Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program Offers Training To Young People In Berrien County

You might not know it, but there’s a way for young people to get involved with the United States Air Force right here in Berrien County. Second Lieutenant Amanda Rodgers of Civil Air Patrol tells WSJM News the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is open to those between the ages of 12 and 18. It’s a way for young people to get some Air Force training.
“We have books and curriculum that are provided and based off of the U.S. Air Force, ” Rodgers said. “They do structured programs. They learn about the uniform, how to wear it properly and respect it, a lot of aviation, aerospace education. They do character development and leadership.” ....

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) South Dakota Civil Air Patrol Captain Brandon West, of Tea, has surpassed 1,000 hours as a pilot, earning CAP’s “Senior Pilot” aeronautical rating.
West learned to fly as a “cadet” in CAP’s youth program in 2013. Today, he is a pilot for CAP’s search and disaster relief missions.
“Reaching 1,000 hours is one of those goals you shoot for as a pilot,” said West. “I never would have been able to achieve that without my start in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. CAP is where I took my first flight in a single-engine aircraft at the age of 13. From my first flight, I knew I wanted to become a pilot.” ....
