Representative Image Plea seeks release of prisoners on interim bail from Delhi s Jails amid pandemic, Court issues notice ANI | Updated: Apr 28, 2021 13:14 IST By Sushil Batra New Delhi [India], April 28 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction for the immediate release of all the under-trial and convicted prisoners on interim bail/parole in light of the COVID-19pandemic. The notice was issued for the release of prisoners with maximum imprisonment upto 7 years and fine (i.e. non - heinous crime) to Tihar Jail, Mandoli Jail and Rohini Jail of Delhi. The petition also sought direction for the interim release of prisoners having critical medical conditions.

Representative image SINDRI: The court of additional district judge (ADJ) in Dhanbad on Thursday quashed the order of the Jail IG to shift former Jharia MLA Sanjiv Singh to Dumka jail and directed the jail authorities to shift him back to Dhanbad immediately. Hearing a petition filed by Sanjiv Singh through his lawyers, ADJ Ravi Ranjan observed that the decision of the jail authorities to shift him without prior permission of the jurisdictional court was arbitrary in nature and in contravention of the settled principle of law and also a deliberate attempt to bypass the Jharkhand high court order dated February 14, 2018 to shift him back from Hotwar jail in Ranchi to Dhanbad jail.
