At dinnertime in Zaina Moussa’s childhood home, the table would be filled with an array of Moroccan and Syrian dishes, representing her parents’ different backgrounds. A mix of French, Arabic, and English words would fill the air as Moussa’s siblings chattered, waiting for their father to join them. As her diabetic father pricked his finger to check his blood sugar, she and her siblings would shout out numbers to predict the results before the monitor. 
From a young age, Moussa appreciated how accessible medical devices can empower patients. She dreamed of one day studying bioengineering to learn how to create these devices. Yet, her small high school in Lubbock, Texas, had limited engineering opportunities. MISSOULA ꟷ Three University of Montana rising seniors were named as national finalists for the prestigious Truman Scholarship, the nation’s premier graduate fellowship for those pursuing careers as public service leaders.

Missoula, and Augusta Reinhart from
Bozeman are among a small percentage of U.S. students who were selected as Truman Scholarship finalists.

Students Noël Gordon and Jalen Warren are co-presidents of Ohio University s chapter of the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS).
Through an experience with Ohio University’s chapter of the national Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS), Noël Gordon found her passion for working with kids and insight into her career path. 
Gordon collaborated with The Center for Family Safety and Healing, an organization inside Nationwide Children’s Hospital, to plan an event intended to teach pre-health students how to recognize Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) factors in children. Knowing these factors can allow medical professionals to identify potential abuse or neglect in a kids. ....

Black History Month, or Black Awareness Month, may be coming to an end, but there are plenty of organizations on campus you can support or engage with throughout the year.
In 1967, the United Black Students was the first Black student organization to become formally recognized by Henry King Stanford, the University of Miami’s third president. Today, dozens of groups exist at the University across multiple areas of interest and focus, connecting Black students to academic, professional, and social support systems that help them excel.  ....
