In a significant move, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has taken over the portfolio involving minorities’ welfare.
The decision not to entrust the portfolio to ministers hailing from the minority community is a political move in the light of criticism, especially by the Syro-Malabar church, that benefits such as minority scholarships were being appropriated by the Muslim community.
The Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference (KCBC) was quick to react hailing the decision to take over the portfolio of minority welfare that was handled by K.T. Jaleel in the last LDF ministry. Dr. Jaleel had to resign after the Kerala Lok Ayukta found him guilty of nepotism. ....

Amid all this, 99 members of the Pennsylvania State Police’s 159th cadet class were fanning out across the commonwealth to begin their law enforcement careers.
Thanks to dozens of minority students at Milton Hershey School, these new state troopers carried with them a little extra insight and empathy for how people of color might see them. ....

TikTok is a growing social platform that saw massive growth amid the pandemic. Teenagers, teachers, and several organizations agree TikTok can be used to educate teenagers about COVID-19.
15-year-old Josie Pearson revealed in a phone interview that a lot of those her age are unaware of the risks of COVID-19. She claims many of her peers are misinformed or uninformed.
Further, many teens do not care to take precautions against COVID-19. Most my age do not follow coronavirus guidelines. Many do not use their masks properly and party outside school, revealed Pearson.
When asked where teens like Pearson are getting information about coronavirus, she said teachers and social media are their main sources, VPR reported. ....
