Officer who admitted trying to groom girl, 13, while on duty is found guilty of gross misconduct

A Met Police officer who admitted trying to groom a 13-year-old girl while he was on duty has been found guilty of gross misconduct.
PC Mark Collins admitted six counts of trying to communicate with someone under 16 for sexual gratification and one count of attempting to incite a girl aged 13 to engage in sexual activity back in January.
The 57-year-old resigned from the force a month later and is currently awaiting sentencing at the Old Bailey.
This week, a Special Case hearing was held over claims of gross misconduct, presided over by Met Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball.
The Met said an allegation had been proven against the ex-officer, who was first arrested in November 2019. ....

A former Met Police officer who served in south London has pleaded guilty to several crimes related to sexual activity involving an underage girl.
In a statement published Thursday (April 22), a spokesperson for the Met Police said that an allegation of gross misconduct had been proven against former PC Mark Collins, who was arrested in November 2019 and resigned from the force in February this year.
Collins was arrested on November 26, 2019, and suspended from duty – he was later charged on the November 9, 2020.

The Met Police revealed Thursday that on January 27 Collins pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to communicate with a person aged under 16 years, for the purposes of sexual gratification and one count of attempting to incite a girl aged 13 to engage in sexual activity . ....

Chief Special Officer Tom Haye was taken to a misconduct hearing and sacked for gross misconduct after he used the term which is derogatory for members of the Romany Gypsies and Irish Travellers community.
The senior Hampshire Constabulary officer with 30 years experience - who disputed that it amounted to gross misconduct - had been in a conversation with a colleague who was house-sitting for him and when he said it keeps the pikeys out .
