Boosting North Carolina’s literacy rate: North Carolina lawmakers are working on a bill to give more help to some elementary school teachers.
Lawmakers are considering House Bill 420, which would put a teacher assistant in every kindergarten through second grade classroom in North Carolina and one in every three third grade classrooms.
Representative Brian Turner said the bill could help lagging reading numbers in North Carolina.
“I do know we have some room for improvement,” Turner said. © Provided by WLOS Asheville/Greenville Caption: Lawmakers consider bill to boost NC s literacy, add teacher assistants to every K-2 class
