Qatar University College of Law bags workers’ welfare award

Doha: The College of Law at Qatar University (QU) was selected as the Best Worker in Workers’ Welfare of the Year 2020, in a ceremony under the auspices of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (ADLSA), entitled “Workers’ welfare is a moral duty and legal obligation.” 
This selection was made by the Workers Welfare Awards Committee headed by Mohammed bin Tawar Al Kuwari, Vice-President of Qatar Chamber. The Committee was launched by Dar Al-Sharq about five years ago. 
The Committee includes representatives of the National Human Rights Committee, the Department of Occupational Safety and Health at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the Community Police, the Labor Inspection Department at ADLSA, Public Relations at the Public Works Authority, and several professors from QU.  ....

Traveller mother says traveller children shouldn't stay in school 'longer than they need to'

A traveller mother-of-two who entered her two-year-old daughter into a beauty pageant claims looking good takes priority over schooling in her community.
Lavinia, a Romani traveller who lives in Dorset with her husband Danny, her son Young Danny, eight, and daughter Valentina says traveller women pay a lot of attention to their appearance in order to outdo each other.
Appearing on Here Come the Gypsies on Channel 5 tonight, she adds that traveller children shouldn t stay in school for too long because they risk picking up bad habits. 
Speaking about her daughter s upcoming pageant, she says she hoped Valentina won t be marked down because she comes from a traveller background.  ....
