El proyecto de construcción de la planta de gas de Sinolam Smarter Energy (antes Martano) logró que la Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Públicos (ASEP) le aprobara una extensión de 12 meses o hasta marzo de 2023 para el inicio de operación comercial.
Se trata de una planta generadora de 441 megavatios en Colón, que junto con la planta de AES Colón de 381 megavatios y la de Generadora Gatún (antes NG Power) de 670 megavatios, sumarán 1,492 megavatios con gas natural a más tardar en 2024, si se cumplen los planes anunciados.
Al igual que el proyecto de NG Power, Sinolam también tiene un contrato de 350 megavatios de venta de energía para suplir a las distribuidoras Naturgy y ENSA.
