OVERVIEW: Metropolitan Congregations United seeks a Lead Environmental Justice Organizer to manage two EJ staff; to conduct outreach, base building, training, education and leadership development for leaders; and lead an EJ campaign through the initiatives of an Interfaith EJ Task Force composed of a growing base of congregation-based teams. The position reports to the MCU Executive Director and is a collaborative effort between MCU, Sierra Club National, Roderick Burton of New Northside Missionary Baptist Church, and Community First Plus. Gamaliel National Training in relational organizing techniques with faith-based organizations will be provided.

BEN VALENTINE: What is the Sierra Clubâs vision for Indiana, and what are the key ways you are working towards that goal?
JULIE LOWE: Sierra Club champions solutions to the climate crisis. We work for clean air, safe water, land protection, and a vibrant natural world. We fight for environmental and social justice and believe in getting people outside to enjoy the outdoors. More specifically, Sierra Clubâs goals are clean energy for all by 2030, protecting more public lands: 30% by 2030, and to actively work to become an anti-racist organization. The Hoosier Chapter andÂ local Sierra Club groups are active in different parts of the state, working on conservation-related issues, sponsoring outdoor activities, and educating members on issues. ....
