Librarians from Red Oak and Waxahachie share their experiences

Waxahachie Daily Light National Library Week began on April 4 and librarians from Waxahachie and Red Oak shared their love for their jobs and reading when they celebrated National Librarian Day on April 6.  According to the America Library Association, the theme for National Library Week was “Welcome to Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building – and that everyone is welcome to use their services. National Library Day honors library workers that keep the libraries in order and contribute to the enrichment of the communities every day. School librarians  Lead librarian from Waxahachie High School, Megan Mills, has been serving the WISD school district for 25 years of the 34 years she has been in education. She has been a librarian for 32 years. 

Nicholas P Sims Library to hold winter reading challenge

Waxahachie Daily Light On Dec. 8, Nicholas P. Sim Library closed their doors temporarily to the public, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. However, community members are still able to check out books and get involved with reading challenges and events hosted by the Library through virtual means.  Curbside Pickup and After Hours Locker Pickup will remain available. We apologize for the inconvenience; the safety of our patrons and staff are our first priority,  shared the Sims Facebook page. Although the doors are closed, community members can still look forward to the upcoming winter reading challenge, which will begin in the 2021 new year, taking place from Jan. 1 through Jan. 31.
