TAKING A BREAK: George the Farmer creators Ben Hood and Simone Kain take a break from filming with George. CHILDREN’S farming icon George the Farmer has traded his tractor for a harvester in an effort to teach Australia’s next generation about the importance of plantation forestry. The children’s character is joined by key Green Triangle industry leaders in a new six-minute video, illustrating everything from tree planting and harvesting to the milling process. The forestry video, which will air on the ABC, has been produced as part of the federally-funded Educating Kids About Agriculture project, a collaboration with Primary Producers SA and the Australian Forest Products Association. ....
AustralianFarmers Popular children’s character ‘George the Farmer’ has unveiled a new book to coincide with South Australia’s record apple harvest. ‘Hailstorm Heroes’ is the tenth children’s book released by Limestone Coast duo, Simone Kain and Ben Hood, since launching their educational, agriculture-based brand in 2015. With a focus on weather events, technology and food waste, ‘Hailstorm Heroes’ was inspired by a 2017 Hort Innovation awareness campaign encouraging consumers to purchase blemished or bumpy apples. The highly successful campaign was developed in response to a severe hailstorm which impacted apple orchards across the Adelaide Hills and Limestone Coast, resulting in major losses for growers. ....

The book, Beef Bonanza, has been inspired by the big event and was written and illustrated by Simone Kain and Ben Hood. Co-creator, Simone Kain, said the Queensland launch was a long way from their South Australian base, but it was something of a homecoming for the George the Farmer crew. George the Farmerâs first official public stage show was at Beef in 2015 when they launched the song âWe Love Beefâ to the young enthusiastic audience. ....
