New Delhi: CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury’s son Ashish, a 34-year-old journalist, died of COVID-19 in the morning.
Ashish would have celebrated his 35th birthday on June 9. He was undergoing treatment at Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital, people close to the family added. They described his sudden death at 5:30 am after a two-week battle with the disease as a shock.
“It is with great sadness that I have to inform that I lost my elder son, Ashish Yechury to COVID-19 this morning. I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him – doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers and innumerable others who stood by us,” Yechury said on Twitter on Thursday morning. ....

Despite COVID pandemic, BCPL operated at full capacity in 2020-21

DIBRUGARH: Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) has been able to successfully and safely operate at more than 100 per cent capacity during the year 2020-21. Disclosing this before the media persons during an interactive session recently, the Managing Director (M.D), BCPL, Reep Hazarika claimed, The company has achieved turnover of Rs 2819 crore (unaudited) in the financial year 2020-21. Hazarika further stated that with achievement of 106 per cent capacity utilization BCPL produced 2.86 lakh MT of polymers and 60145 MT liquid hydro-carbons during year 2020-21 which were marketed to downstream industries achieving Polymer sales of 3.06 lakh MT. ....
