SUKKUR: A delegation of lawyers in Sukkur, led by Sohail Memon, Aisha Dharejo, Rizwana Memon and Ali Akbar, met IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar on Sunday.
During the meeting, the lawyers discussed the law and order situation in the city and issues faced by women in the name of ‘honour killing’.They said that ‘Karo Kari’, a shabby tradition, is a major issue faced by women, adding that this issue keeps on claiming lives of innocent women in the city and across Sindh.The lawyers expressed dissatisfaction over the role of police department. They said that the police have failed to take adequate measures to stop incidents of Karo Kari’ and arrest the culprits involved in this crime. They said that it is responsibility of the police to lodge an FIR against the culprits on behalf of the state in case on one is registering an FIR. The lawyers also drew the IGP Sindh’s attention towards the issues such as fake encounters, cases ....

KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department has constituted a five-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the murder case of slain journalist of Sukkur Ajay Lalwani.
According to an official notification issued by Secretary Sindh Home Department, Dr Usman Chachar, following the directions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Home Department constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising five officers of Sindh Police, ISI, IB, Special Branch and Pakistan Rangers for the purpese of investigation of murder of journalist Ajay Lalwani, the murder case registered at the Police Statien Saleh Pat, District Sukkur. Zulfiqar Ali Larik, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), would be the convener of JIT, while representative of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) not below the rank of Major, representative of Intelligence Bureau (IB) not below the rank of Deputy Director, representative of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) not helow the ....
