KARACHI: The provincial authorities have informed the Sindh High Court that establishment of the Sindh education policy oversight council will be notified within a week to monitor the public-sector education to overcome shortcomings pointed out by a SHC mandated education committee.
A single-judge bench of the SHC headed by Justice Salahuddin Panhwar directed the chief secretary to explain his position over the appointment of chairman of the Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Stevta) after it came on record that the chairman was not an educationalist, but a political person who established his office in Stevta headquarters, was enjoying privileges of luxury vehicles and receiving honorarium as well. ....

The Sindh government seems to be in disagreement with the contents of the Single National Curriculum proposed by the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf-led federal government. For the academic year 2021-22, Sindh has decided not to make it a part of the provincial curriculum at the primary level.
Earlier, the federal education ministry had decided to introduce and implement the SNC in the academic session commencing from August. The ministry had also recommended that the provinces publish books related to the new curriculum. The Sindh government did not make any preparations in line with the ministry’s suggestions and started working on a new curriculum to be introduced at the secondary and higher secondary lev ....
