After two year of constant complications, fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic has once again left the province’s education system in doldrums right before the start of the new academic session.
Sindh’s schools and colleges, slated for an on-campus reopening on August 02, 2021, are now mulling a change of plan owing to the surge in virus cases.
While a final decision is yet to be made in the regard, parents, children and school administrations all appear to be wary of another online term, which has proven to be full of loose ends and difficulties in the past two years.
IRSA asks WAPDA to appoint water inspectors at nine sites

LAHORE: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA), apex river water regulatory body having representation of all provinces, has asked the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to appoint water inspectors at nine barrages in Punjab and Sindh for monitoring flows.
The move to appoint technical inspectors was pushed in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Water Resources, which was held on May 24, 2021 under the chairmanship of Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur, Pakistan Peoples’ Party MNA from NA-220 (Umerkot).
According to a memorandum issued by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources on May 27, 2021, the 20-member standing committee showed multi-partisan consensus over third-party monitoring of water distribution among provinces.
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the Sindh government to pay all the dues of the members of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) by June 7, warning that otherwise it will initiate contempt of court proceeding against the provincial government.
A SHC division bench – comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito – on Friday heard a CPNE petition seeking contempt proceedings against the Sindh government for not implementing an earlier court order for payment of dues.
The court expressed extreme displeasure when junior officers of the Sindh Department of Information and Department of Finance appeared before the court to represent their departments. It ordered the finance secretary and information secretary to ensure their presence at the next hearing.
