Sindh HEC yet to get control of public varsities Universities and Boards Dept to keep administrative powers for now KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has temporarily stopped the transfer of administrative powers of public universities in the province from the Universities and Boards Department to the Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC). The CM also directed to take into confidence and consult with other stakeholders, including the Adviser to the CM on Universities and Boards Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, on the issue of the transfer of administrative powers of public universities in the province. The decision to temporarily stop the government universities in the province from being handed over to Sindh HEC was taken after a briefing by the relevant secretary on the issue at a Sindh cabinet meeting on Wednesday. ....
Sindh HEC to award Rs40m scholarships to varsity students Karachi April 9, 2021 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday said scholarships worth Rs40 million will be awarded to students of public and private universities in the province. âThese scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit-cum-need to BS, MS, MPhil and PhD students of public universities and to MS, MPhil and PhD students of private universities during the current financial year.â Shah presided over a meeting of the Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) and vice chancellors of public universities at the CM House. On the HECâs recommendation, he also distributed cheques worth Rs25 million among five universities of rural and developing areas to set up information technology labs. ....
