A MOTORIST more than three times the legal drink-drive limit almost hit a cyclist while swerving all over a main West Cumbria road. Franky Nutter, 50, was described as “very heavily under the influence of alcohol” by police who arrested her having been alerted by another motorist. He first saw Nutter’s Volvo S40 near Workington police station at 3pm on March 1, worrying as it mounted a kerb. Heading to Maryport on the A596, he watched Nutter repeatedly swerve, approaching a roundabout in the wrong lane and driving “extremely slowly”. He called 999. Gerard Rogerson, prosecuting, told Carlisle Crown Court: “He continued to follow the vehicle and described it as being all over the road, striking kerbs and bollards. Through Siddick it hit metal railings.
