Since 1950, the centre and the Lions Club of Cobourg have contributed to many community projects, including donations to The Northumberland Hills Hospital chemotherapy unit, local Sports associations, bursary and scholarships to area schools, individuals and families in need of assistance, CNIB, Baltimore Arena, Lions Pavilion in Victoria Park, an organizing sponsor of the Cobourg Santa Claus parade and 1 of the organizers of the Waterfront Festival, plus many more projects. ....
Itâs an early Wednesday morning at the Super One South store in Grand Rapids and the store is buzzing as approximately 20 ElderCircle volunteers take their assigned shopping lists to shop for older adults. When the last shopper has gone through the check-out lane this particular week, the volunteers will have shopped for many older adult households. These shoppers are part of a group of more than 80 volunteers for the ElderCircle Groceries To Go grocery delivery program. The program has one goal â to deliver groceries to older adults in Itasca County. In addition to volunteer shoppers, the program also utilizes volunteer order takers and delivery drivers who have all selflessly given their time and talents every week to make sure the most vulnerable of the areaâs population are still receiving food. ....
Posted by Dana McCoy Lakeside Pullers is a non-profit pulling club located in Ram Bay at 1425 Hamilton Road, Manning, South Carolina. Lakeside pullers are similar to truck pulls and tractor pulls, but they only pull lawn garden tractors, v8 pulling tractors, and motorcycle pulling tractors. They pull a sled 300 feet and the person who pulls the farthest wins a personalized trophy made by Allen Smith. An average pulling season is from April to November, and they pull on the first and third Saturday of the month. Anyone from the age of 2-80 can be seen pulling in these events with about 50 members in the club. A couple of families, including the McLeod family, got together and were the ones who created the club. They have been pulling for over 10 years. They have pulled in Panola, SC and Summerton, SC, and they have had their current location in Ram Bay for about 4 years now. The land is owned by club members, Lakeside Pullers. I have worked hard in my career at The Manning Times but I do credit a lot of my success to Bobby. He was my number one fan, faithful and loyal. He was one of my best friends. Robert Joseph Baker worked for The Sumter Daily Item, for, to the best of my knowledge, eleven years before he came to work with me at The Manning Times. We had so much fun at the paper. We attended many events together and made many deadlines together. Some of my best adventures the last eleven years, from appearing on The Jeffrey Lampkin Show to taking pictures for magazines along I95, were had with him. He would attend my children’s plays and games. He became part of the family. ....
