BUSINESSES across Dorchester reopened for the first time in months as the Government rolled out phase two of its roadmap. The second phase saw the reopening of pub outdoor spaces, non-essential retail, and hairdressers and barbers - much to the relief of many shoppers, who have been restricted to visiting Dorchester s high street shops due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was also a relief for business owners across the town including landlord Mark Bliss, who runs the Sydney Arms in Bridport Road. He said: I think the whole social side is what people have missed the most. To just be around other people is important for a lot of us. ....

Pubs, restaurants, gyms, hairdressers, beauticians, non-essential shops and outdoor attractions were today all reopening in some capacity as the country takes another step on the government s roadmap out of lockdown. Most hospitality and leisure venues have been closed since the country was plunged into a third national lockdown on January 6, and business owners and staff are thrilled to get back to work, while customers are chomping at the bit to get back to the pub or get a haircut. ....
Opening in 4 days There are just a few days to go now until you can head down to your local for a pint and a bite to eat - provided it has a beer garden. Scores of pubs in Dorset have been preparing their outdoor seating areas ready for the big re-opening on April 12. You won t be able to go inside the pubs just yet. But sitting outdoors will be the next best thing - especially if the weather stays good. Some locals have traditional beer gardens, some narrow courtyards. A few have set up overhead coverings. Some might even have outdoor heating. All are looking forward to welcoming customers back. ....
