Imported goods will be insured after signing of Tripartite Cargo Insurance Protocol – NIC

The move to ensure that all goods imported into the country are insured will be effected following the signing of the Cargo Insurance Protocol.
This is according to the National Insurance Commission (NIC) which signed the agreement with the Ghana Shippers Authority and the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The commission believes this will boost growth in the marine insurance sector and also help the NIC achieve its aim of growing the sectors’ current gross premium income to ten billion Ghana cedis in the next three years. ....

Ashigbey urges government to revise telecoms industry laws to boost growth

According to him, the current laws do not support the effective development of the sector.
In an interaction with the media in Accra, Mr. Ashigbey, while making projections for the year 2021, said the Chamber will collaborate with government in reviewing the existing frameworks for the telecommunications industry to best suit current advancements.
He noted, “First is to look at the issues of the business environment and the issues of privacy. If you take our country, we are currently running telecommunication on voice legislation, voice regulation, and voice policy. But we know that we are within the 4G and 5G realm. It’s no more internet of things. It’s internet of everything. We are within the realms of mobile money. It was not envisaged when those laws were passed.” ....

The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association says it has commenced talks with some vehicle assembling plants established in the country to manufacture car parts.
The move will see the production of the small spare parts for which raw materials can be found in Ghana.
Co-chairman of the Association, Clement Boateng, in an interaction with Citi Business News explained, “As I’m talking to you now, those assembly plants which will start assembling vehicles here have entered into negotiations with the association to try as much as possible to partner them to try the production of small spare parts for which raw materials can be found in the country”. ....
