NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Allahabad high court order directing weeklong lockdown of 5 major cities of Uttar Pradesh. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned UP government’s appeal before CJI for urgent hearing against the Allahabad HC order directing lockdown in five cities Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Gorakhpur till April 26 to break the lethal Covid chain. A bench led by CJI S A Bobde has appointed senior advocate PS Narasimha as amicus curiae in the matter. The Supreme Court will hear the matter again after 2 weeks. Mehta said the state is already taking steps to contain spread of Covid but a complete lockdown would create immense administrative difficulties.

Yes, some of them are shockingly false. You can easily knock out a judge if there is no security. There has to be security of tenure for ad-hoc judges."
