Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station To Host Drug Take Back Day — Hometown Station | KHTS FM 98.1 & AM 1220 — Santa Clarita Radio

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is set to host a Drug Take Back Day to discard prescription medications next month.
From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m on Friday, April 2, residents can drop off unwanted medications at the Sheriff’s Station for disposal, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the station.
“This free service allows the public to anonymously discard prescription medications, and also addresses a vital public safety and health issue,” wrote Arriaga in an official statement Tuesday.
Over-the-counter medications can be accepted, but liquids are not.
The Drug Take Back Day works to address vital public safety and health issues regarding drug disposal and abuse, according to Arriaga. ....

Construction is well underway on the new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in Canyon Country, with officials excited to move into the “state-of-the-art” facility after occupying their old space for nearly half a century.

Case Continues For SCV Sheriff's Station Deputies Charged With Perjury, Filing False Reports

Instead of issuing speeding tickets to the drivers, both defendants allegedly issued citations for not having proof of insurance, even though the drivers had valid insurance at the time, according to prosecutors.
The alleged misconduct came to light after a Los Angeles deputy police chief told a Sheriff’s captain that the two defendants possibly had issued falsified traffic tickets, according to the complaint.
Bail was set at $25,000 for each defendant. If convicted as charged, Berk faces a possible maximum sentence of five years in state prison, while Fisk faces up to three years and eight months in prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau. ....

City Of Santa Clarita Provides Update On New SCV Sheriff's Station

Back in December, Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda sat down with KHTS to discuss what to expect in 2021, including the new station, which he said will give law enforcement better resources to serve a growing community.
“We have an antiquated Sheriff’s station that was built in 1969 for a population of 80,000 that now has to serve a population of almost 300,000 in the valley,” Miranda said at the time.
Miranda went on to say that the resources being made available at the new station will help deputies operate more “effectively and more efficiently.”
“By more efficiently, I’m talking about serving the public better, but also serving it at a cost that’s more reasonable than maybe what we’re having to pay now per deputy,” he said. ....
