Regional Rehab adds new staff members to serve growing demand

• Regional Rehabilitation Center (RRC) is adding new staff members to serve a growing waitlist for its services.
RRC provides outpatient therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, dyslexia treatment, audiology services, and early childhood intervention to North Mississippi, according to its website. Thanks to fundraising events, additional grants, United Way and community support, RRC will tackle its two largest waiting lists, – dyslexia and speech – with a dyslexia therapist who begins work in March, a part-time speech therapist who started last Friday, and a full-time speech therapist who will start in June.
“What we always want to plan for is to see more people and help more people in the community,” said executive director Robby Parman. ....

Canberrans encouraged to seek mental health and wellbeing help


A COMMUNITY group is leading the way to encourage Canberrans to look after their mental wellbeing following a difficult year impacted by nearby bushfires and coronavirus.
The Street Theatre is one of 20 recipients of a mental health and wellbeing innovation grant, which funded their latest project – a creative practice resource to rebuild, rejuvenate and reimagine artists’ futures.
Street Theatre executive producer Caroline Stacey hoped Canberrans to reached out and supported each other as the year draws to a close.
“The challenges of 2020 have shown more than ever how important it is to connect to the things that matter most to us,” Ms Stacey said. ....

WELLSVILLE  Selina Schell, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Jones Memorial Hospital, has been selected as the second Care Champion for 2020.
Four times a year, the hospital recognizes a staff member or volunteer as a Care Champion. To be nominated, the person must demonstrate through words or actions an exemplary commitment to JMH patients, their co-workers, and the JMH employee code of conduct. Each quarter, the Employer of Choice Committee selects the most outstanding nominee.
Selina, who has been a part of the rehab team for about ten months, was nominated by both Chelsea Leahy, DPT, and Kaitlyn Cooney, DPT for going above and beyond in everything she does. ....
