Saskatoon woman Tiara Jackle files statement of defence in response to civil suit by local band Bombargo

None of the statements in either filing have been tested in court.
The statement of claim was filed over statements made in a March 22 Facebook post by Jackle, as well as subsequent comments made on the original post.
The post outlined events Jackle said took place during filming of a promotional video organized by the all-male Saskatoon Yukigassen snowball team in February 2016; two members of the team are currently members of Bombargo. Jackle said she was one of three models all female present for the video shoot.
In the post, Jackle said there was a scene in which she was instructed to lead some team members into a private room with a “sexy smirk,” implying “that a sexual act would commence in the room between myself and the Yukigassen members.” Later in the shoot, one of the men grabbed her hips from behind, telling her “this angle captures your curves better,” she said in the post. ....

Ehjae Chan wants to create a community to help survivors of sexual violence in Saskatoon.
Chan knows first-hand how hard it can be to talk about experiencing violence, but also how healing that talk can be.
There s something very powerful that happens when you share a story of oppression and violence, said Chan, who lives in Alberta now but used to live in Saskatoon. Liars. Attention seekers. These labels are slapped on people who disclose experiences of sexual harassment and violence, says Morgan Price.
The survivor or the victim is more often blamed or at least questioned with the validity of what they ve experienced, said Price, who is an education and outreach co-ordinator at the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre (SSAIC). Price said victims of sexual or domestic violence aren t offered the same baseline of belief given to victims of less intimate crimes. ....
