1121 Dorchester Ave. rendering by RODE Architects.
The Zoning Board of Appeal on Tuesday approved two new housing developments - one with room for restaurant - a couple blocks apart in the Glover s Corner stretch of Dorchester Avenue.
In the larger project, on two connected lots, one at 1121 Dorchester Ave., the other around the corner on Savin Hill Avenue, developer Joey Arcari is proposing a live/work/eat development that would feature a four-story, 21-unit residential building with roughly 5,000 square feet of ground-floor space for a restaurant on Dorchester Avenue, and a three-story, three-unit building on Savin Hill Avenue. Three of the units would be marketed as affordable.

A 10th grade student at Cristo Rey Boston.
Prospective and current students at Cristo Rey Boston High School on Savin Hill Avenue will be awarded full tuition scholarships beginning this month, a commitment that will cost about $150,000 annually on top of the school’s $3 million yearly budget.
The school’s board plans to continue the full-tuition scholarships for the “foreseeable future,” according to Rosemary Powers, the school’s president.
“Acknowledging that Cristo Rey Boston students and families have been disproportionately impacted by the effects of Covid-19, the Board of Trustees has decided to provide full tuition-free scholarships to our existing students as well as incoming classes,” Powers said in a statement.

Four year olds are great. They love Christmas and other holidays of the season. The relentless joy they experience seeing houses lit up and decorated trees twinkling through windows as they wait for Santa can light up others with joy, even in such difficult times.
On Monday night, a planned walk to Malibu beach was diverted by a beautifully decorated house on Savin Hill Avenue, so our family bubble decided to take in the lights. My four-year-old granddaughter spied a blow up Santa on his sleigh being pulled by reindeer with Rudolph at the lead, and insisted that we all sing “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” As we continued our walk around Savin Hill, other inflated decorations resulted in our singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and” Jingle Bells.” It was a wonderful experience.
