New portal integrates COVID-19 data at PHC level in Bengaluru for the first time

The health department of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has designed a new portal named Public Health Activities Surveillance and Tracking (PHAST) that integrates all COVID-19 related data at the Public Health Centre (PHC) level for the first time. “This will help plug gaps and empower PHCs to make data-based interventions,” said a senior civic official.
Crucial information, such as ICMR data on people who have tested positive for COVID-19, contact tracing data, ILI-SARI cases reported from private hospitals, international passengers coming into the city, are being reported to the central COVID-19 war room from where every evening it is disseminated to the zonal level. This not only took up a lot of resources, but also created situations where the data is effectively lost by the time it reaches PHCs. ....

73.74% voter turn out in Virudhunagar district

This is 1.62% less than 2016 Assembly elections
With the final tally of 73.74% that is 16.81 lakh voters turning up at the polling booths in seven Assembly constituencies, the polling percentage has dipped by 1.62% when compared to 2016 Assembly election.
While Tiruchuli registered the highest turn out of 77.46%, the lowest poll percentage was reported in Sivakasi AC – 70.16%.
The polling percentage in other constituencies are: Rajapalayam (73.89%), Srivilliputtur (73.14%), Sattur (75.17%), Virudhunagar (71.27%), Aruppukottai (75.60%).
Among the seven Assembly constituencies Sivakasi has seen the biggest decline in voter turnout with 3.75% lesser voters coming to the polling booths on Tuesday.
Even Tiruchuli AC that recorded the highest poll percentage has seen a fall of 3.29%. ....

Thousands of Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) were seen dumped in government offices with the electoral staff in many divisions and wards of Krishna district.
The ID cards were dumped in the offices without being distributed to voters.
Colour EPICs, also known as voter ID cards, were sent to the Revenue Department and other department personnel during the Assembly elections in 2019, which were forwarded to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), for distributing the same to electors. However, the identity cards were not distributed to the card holders for the last two years. ....
