Newmarket Rotary raised £5,000 for the Macmillan Cancer unit at West Suffolk Hospital

Businesses have generously helped raise £5,000 for the Macmillan Cancer support unit at West Suffolk Hospital.
The funds were raised by the Rotary Newmarket through their Christmas and New Year campaign with companies and traders in the town contributing money along with prizes for a raffle.
The money was donated to the MyWiSH charity to then be directed to the Macmillan Cancer unit, at the Bury St Edmunds hospital.
The decision was made to support the charity by President of the club Colin McCarty after four Rotarians had been treated by the department over the past six years. ....

Four crucial devices have been donated to the physiotherapy team West Suffolk Hospital to help its work with patients and in the community.
Two portable automated external defibrillators (AEDs), a Motomed - which helps strengthen someone s arms and legs - and a Nippy Clearway, which aids patients with their breathing, have all been donated by the MyWiSH charity, which supports the work of the Bury St Edmunds hospital.
Helen Stewart, the respiratory lead physiotherapist, said: It is like Christmas has come all at once. ....

Ishara Ali and her daughter Aaliyah walked out the distance across two days with the target of reaching all the “Welcome to Bury St Edmunds” road signs on the outskirts of the town.
The youngster, who is a pupil at Sebert Wood School close to where she lives on the Moreton Hall estate has, along with her mother, raised a total of £393.75 for the #25 appeal which has been set up by the My WiSH Charity and which supports the work of the West Suffolk Hospital.
They walked the walk on the last weekend of November and Aaliyah said she had a few aches and pains but said she felt “nice” after completing the distance. ....
