Icepack | Feb 18-25 - Philadelphia Weekly

Icepack | Feb. 18-25 Me. Me. Me. Us. Us. Us. Philly. Philly. Philly. Let’s move from our weekly, masturbatory, self-focused navel gazing and Michael van der Veen’s dumb new name for us (“Phileeeeeedelphia?” Wha?) shall we? Into something broader and bigger than those of us between Port Fishington and the Devil’s Pocket usually account for: Pennsylvania. Jackie amp Roy Jackie Cain Roy Kral - Jackie Roy (10 tracks) +Album Reviews

08/09/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) What were you doing in 1955? I was gettin into modern jazz with Basie, Kenton, Christie, Brubeck, and (a particular favorite) Shorty Rogers. But it all started with Jackie & Roy s Euphoria , a defining moment in a young man s life. Backed by the great Charlie Ventura band, with the transcendant trombone work of Bennie Green, this is forever young. What s not to like? Who can resist? Don t ask!
