Having already met Barnsley in the Carabao Cup earlier in this campaign, Chelsea’s FA Cup visit to Oakwell this week marks the 12th time we have faced a team in both domestic cup competitions in the same season.
Our emphatic 6-0 win over the Tykes at Stamford Bridge last September means we could complete a seasonal cup double against the Championship side, a feat we have managed four times previously. No team has managed to do the double against the Blues as we have split wins with our opponents in the other seven matches.
The first of those double-dip cup ties came over half a century ago when we clashed with Leeds United no fewer than six times in the 1969/70 season. The Yorkshire side beat us in both league games as they finished runners-up in Division One, two points ahead of the third-placed Blues, but we had our revenge in our cup meetings. ....

Jim McLean, who has died aged 83, managed Dundee United from 1971 until 1993, an era of remarkable success for the hitherto unheralded Scottish club during which the mercurial McLean steered the Tangerines to their first (and only) league title and to the brink of the European Cup Final.
McLean’s feats are not well remembered south of the border and in Scotland he was arguably outshone by his contemporary Alex Ferguson, then at Aberdeen and with whom McLean temporarily broke the dominance of the Old Firm, Celtic and Rangers. ....

Everyone at Dundee Football Club was saddened to learn of the death of former player and coach Jim McLean
Jim joined Dundee in 1965 before leaving for a second time in 1971 but not after scoring in a major Cup Final, playing in European semi-final and finishing as top goal scorer in 1966/67 during his three seasons as a player at Dens.
Born in Larkhall on April 21
st 1937, James Yuille McLean grew up in the nearby South Lanarkshire village of Ashgill. He served his time as an appreciate joiner while serving his football apprenticeship with Hamilton Academical and the inside forward scored 57 league goals in 129 appearances during four years at Douglas Park. ....
