MOLINE, Ill. Residents on 34th avenue in Moline are hoping to see the speed limit change after 13-year-old Charles Hubbard was struck and killed while riding his bicycle May 4th. A Moline police officer was responding to a disturbance when she struck Hubbard. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Now, residents in the area are saying 40 miles per hour is too fast for the road. Kailain Neff has lived on the street for six years. She says it’s always been that way, “This is normal for end of the day, rush hour, people are flying. It’s been busy since we’ve been here.” ....

When a crowd of youths attempted to thwart the government’s efforts to relocate a generator from Makeni to the neighbouring Por Loko District, it ended in an avoidable loss of lives of about seven people. The anger and confusion in the region and beyond were understandable, resulting in the adapted theme song of “Makeni Lives Matter”. This was coming hot on the heels of the demise of George Floyd who was killed in America by the police.
Many blamed the authorities for using the youths as fodder to promote their political agenda. While some condemned the youths for engaging in such a behaviour in the first place, others identified the lack of employment and youth engagement as one of the factors contributing to their vulnerabilities. Belk, Hubbard Named Sweetheart Royalty queen, king; juniors win banner competition

Friday was Sweetheart Royalty Night for Mountain Home High School Career Academies. Mattie Belk was named the queen for 2021, and Charles Hubbard was selected as the king.
