A newly formed advisory board will promote youth civic engagement and connect high school students in Sandwich to the Sandwich Board of Selectmen.
Sandwich High School senior Nico Gentile and faculty adviser Chris Tansey presented the idea of the Sandwich Youth Commission to the board of selectmen at its meeting on May 13.
In its current iteration, the commission will be composed of nine high school students of varying grade levels: five students from the town high school, two students from Cape Cod Academy, and two students from the Sturgis Charter schools. All of the involved students are Sandwich residents; this composition will be fluid depending on the number of interested students at each school.
Reporter Monica Charsley reviews The Charles Holden In the heart of Colliers Wood, opposite the underground station, you will find The Charles Holden. As you walk up to the popular pub, you can see benches placed around the side with joyful pubgoers, who can also be found under a canopy in a separate section. It has a large beer garden, with more than enough space to adhere to social distancing. Its decor gives off a warm and cosy atmosphere with sparkling fairy lights and bushes with bright red roses on them. I visited earlier this week and it was so good that I went back twice - both without a booking.

Soon after prisoners in New York correctional facilities sued Gov. Andrew Cuomo and won, they began receiving hard-won COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision wrote in a statement to City & State that it began offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to all incarcerated individuals on April 6. As of mid-April, 894 incarcerated individuals and 23 staff members had been vaccinated through this effort.
But then those vaccinations stopped, as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was put on pause by the federal government on April 13. The department had been using the Moderna vaccine since February.
Getting shots in the arms of inmates to begin with, however, has been a battle. On March 30, a judge ordered the state to administer COVID-19 vaccines to prisoners after a lawsuit from a coalition of advocates argued that Cuomo and state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker had unfairly denied prisoners access to the vaccine.
