Prosecutors expect at least 100 more arrests for U.S. Capitol riot

(Reuters) -The U.S. Justice Department expects to charge at least 100 more people for taking part in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, signaling prosecutors are far from finished investigating an attack that a judge on Thursday called an act of terrorism.
Over 400 individuals have been charged in connection with the Capitol attack, federal prosecutors said in a court filing on Thursday. The investigation continues and the government expects that at least one hundred additional individuals will be charged.
The Justice Department made the disclosure in a set of similar court filings asking judges to postpone deadlines in pending prosecutions. ....

US judge detains two Proud Boys leaders pending their trial over role in US Capitol riot

A federal judge on Monday ordered that two prominent leaders of the far-right Proud Boys group be detained for their roles in storming the US Capitol, saying they posed a danger to the community and could not be trusted to abide by strict conditions of release.
The ruling by US District Judge Timothy Kelly marked a small victory for the Justice Department, which had failed in two previous efforts to persuade the courts to detain Ethan Rufio Nordean of Auburn, Washington.
Mr Kelly also ordered detention for one of Mr Nordean s co-defendants, Joseph Biggs of Ormond Beach, Florida, who has remained in home confinement since his arrest in January. ....
