Money matters I read with great interest your coverage of N.C. Rep. Lee Zacharyâs âHouse Bill 379: Full Disclosure of Printer Costsâ (âBill would detail cost of owning printers,â April 5). For many years, the computer industry has recognized that the âGolden Gooseâ was not the computer hardware, but rather the consumables and âadd-ons.â To emphasize this point, manufacturers rig the game. When we print a document, many printers use all the color cartridges to create the black print in order to use up the more expensive cartridges first. This is simply naughty. I applaud Zacharyâs non-controversial and sensible attempt to improve our lives. But I doubt Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu or Epson will be carrying placards in front of his office or home. Itâs unlikely any of us will even yawn. ....

Lindsay Ayling, provided Charles Joseph Donohoe, a Kernersville resident and Proud Boys leader who is facing charges in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot, will have a hearing Monday to determine if he should remain in federal custody. He appeared Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. for a hearing in which he was officially notified of the charges he is facing. Those charges include conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, destruction of government property and disorderly conduct in a restricted building or grounds. Donohoe, 33, was charged along with three other men â Ethan Nordean, 30, of Auburn, Wash.; Joseph Biggs, 37, of Ormond, Fla.; and Zachary Rehl, 35, of Philadelphia. Donohoe is the president of the Piedmont chapter of the Proud Boys. ....
