While authorities continue to mull over potential charges in connection to a lockdown protest in Chatham Monday, Sarnia police have been busy.
So far they have dished out a dozen tickets to people who they say attended similar events at Sarnia City Hall over the past few weeks.
“As part of a measured approach, the Sarnia Police Service has attempted to both educate and warn those individuals in attendance,” Constable Giovanni Sottosanti says in a release. “Unfortunately, our officers have been met with resistance and a lack of willingness to comply.”
Each ticket is worth $880 for violating the Reopening Ontario Act and the province’s stay-at-home orders. ....

A third-party investigation into workplace harassment, discrimination and assault in the ranks of the Sarnia police was flawed, an Ontario Ministry of Labour report says.
The April 20 report says Toronto lawyer Helen Daniel, who was hired to conduct the investigation ordered by the ministry, did not interview six witnesses referenced by the complainant and misapplied the definition of workplace violence.
