A policeman has been found not guilty of sharing a grossly offensive meme related to the death of George Floyd.
Sgt Geraint Jones of Devon and Cornwall Police was off duty when he forwarded an altered image of Mr Floyd s fatal arrest in May 2020.
It went to a private WhatsApp group that included other officers.
The judge at Plymouth Magistrates Court cleared him on the grounds the prosecution failed to prove the image was not intended as a joke . ....

A DEVON and Cornwall Police officer has been acquitted of the criminal offence of sending a grossly offensive image, a meme relating to George Floyd, according to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
In a Whatsapp group that included other police officers and staff, he sent an altered image that inserted a naked adult film actor in the place of a police officer kneeling on the neck of George Floyd. The original image was widely reported and showed Mr Floyd as he was laying on the ground in Minneapolis shortly before his death.  ....
