What inspired you to work on the council?
I decided to run for our council because I care deeply about making our community stronger for future generations. The past leadership has created a solid foundation and now we are positioned to move Hudson forward with a sustainability focus. 
We live in a lovely spot and it is time to invest in ensuring it remains beautiful for future generations to thrive.
What do you hope to accomplish for the community? 
I have a long list of hopes. Some of them include citywide composting, transitioning the city of Hudson to electric vehicles, improving our roads and public lands, enhancing our welcoming spirit, protecting our river way while also preserving our small city charm. ....

Hudson Common Council settles in after April elections


HUDSON The Hudson Common Council held its first board meeting with the reelected and newly-elected council members on Tuesday, April 20. 
Sarah Bruch joined for her first term, with Randy Morrissette II and Joyce Hall returning to their seats. 
Here’s what to know from the meeting: 
Getting organized
The council elected Bill Alms to serve as Council President. 
Members also approved the appointment of council members as voting committee members, and the mayor announced his appointments of members to the plan commission and standing committees, which are not subject to council approval. 
The council approved citizen appointments to boards and committees as well. Council member Joyce Hall said she would prefer to approve each appointment separately at a later date, as she didn’t know anything about the appointees. Mayor Rich O’Connor said he had emailed resumes of the applicants to council members.  ....

Hudson election results: Council incumbents hold onto seats, new members join school board


Unofficial results are in, with final results coming after canvassing next week.

Hudson Council
Incumbents held onto their seats in the Hudson Common Council races following the spring April 6 election.
District 1
Randy Morrissette II held onto his seat, beating out challenger Kerry Reis with a total of 130 votes. Reis earned 108 votes.
District 5
The District 5 seat went to Sarah Bruch. She earned 353 votes against Tori Boomsma’s 181 votes.
District 6
Incumbent Joyce Hall held onto her District 6 seat with 273 votes, beating out challenge Julie Hefner with 242 votes.
Hudson School Board
Kate Garza, incumbent Bob Baumann and Molly Powers were voted into the three open seats on the Hudson School Board. Six candidates were up for the open seats. ....

WISCONSIN On the crowded streets of downtown Hudson, Wisconsin, after sunset on a Friday in December, a man could be overheard as he waited in a huddle to get into Agave Kitchen: I believe in it, I just don t think it s that bad, he said loudly, confident in his chances against COVID-19.
There were no parking spots to be had. Groups jumped out of vehicles quickly at red lights maskless and on a mission. By 7:30 p.m., almost 600 cars with Minnesota license plates lined the streets of this quaint bedroom community. ....
