Dufferin County awards Bill Hill Scholarship to five local students

Five local students were acknowledged and awarded the annual Bill Hill Scholarship by Dufferin County Council last Thursday (July 8).
“Investing in the future of Dufferin County was a consistent theme of the late Bill Hill in his work as an elected official and it is for that reason that council has named the scholarship in his memory,” said acting Warden for the meeting, John Creelman.
The scholarship program was first introduced by former Warden Bill Hill in 2012, and recognizes outstanding Dufferin County students who are pursuing post-secondary schooling and/or training. Hill, was a dedicated member of local politics serving on Shelburne, Melanchthon and Dufferin County councils as well as the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) before retiring from politics in 2014. He passed away in 2018 after a brief ....

The nightmare wait times Uber and Lyft riders have been experiencing during the pandemic may not improve for several weeks. Boston 25 News spoke with rideshare customers across Boston who describe routinely waiting more than 30 minutes and sometimes not being able to connect with a driver at night.

Couples and young-onset dementia: Study of coping offers hope for new interventions

BOSTON - Researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) have used a couples-based framework to describe the experiences of individuals diagnosed with young-onset dementia (YOD) and their partners. In a study published in
JAMA Network Open, the team conducted in-depth interviews to understand how couples navigate challenges related to YOD. This framework has been used to successfully develop patient-caregiver treatments for other severe medical conditions, including stroke, breast cancer and neurological injury. Using this approach to understand couples coping patterns within YOD can help increase much-needed resources for affected couples.
Young-onset dementias are defined by their symptom onset before age 65. The most prevalent form of the illness is Alzheimer s disease, followed by frontotemporal dementia, a progressive form of brain damage that affects behavior and personality.
